5 Ways to Make Sure You’re Found on Instagram

Today I'm sharing a tip in response to an issue SO MANY of you have slid into my DMs about...and an issue I myself have been having lately as well.

A month or so ago I noticed my reach drop a bit--but honestly, having done this for over 12 years across a variety of platforms---sometimes that happens. I didn't dig into it too much, but based on what you're telling me, I am not the only one.

So I made some changes and I'm finally starting to see a bit of a rebound. Take a look and let me know your thoughts and if you. have any questions. You can do all of these very easily and proactively---they won't break the time bank and working together you are likely to see some positive moves in the right direction.

Instagram can be a vast and overcrowded space......but there are a few very simple steps you can take to make sure that not only you're found, but that you are discovered by the right people.

  1. Partner/Collaborate: I built a 7-figure company through partnerships and by sharing communities. There are SO MANY amazing ways to make this happen: Go LIVE together, takeover each other's stories, do a giveaway together, interview each other...share and TAG.

  2. Use a location tag. When you post your content, always tag your location or the location of someone you are posting about. This helps to get in front of the right people geographically.

  3. Use hashtags. Check out your insights---you can still garner reach and impressions from using proper hashtags. Make sure they are not too generic or broad. Make sure they are relatable. Prioritize hashtags that have lower post counts associated with them. And lastly, you don't need 30 of them. Under 10 will suffice.

  4. Make yourself searchable. Instagram increased the character limit in your name field recently so you can add a bit of a descriptor. Choose words that are searchable and specific to your industry and add them after your name. This field on the 'Gram is searchable by others.

  5. Share content from others in your niche. Share from content creators in your space or that compliment what you do with your community. OR share quotes from thought leaders in your space and share them. OR share podcast episodes from those in your space. ALWAYS TAG the creators. They MAY share it back, and it could help others discover you.

Try these out and let me know if your reach goes up. For more, click the link in my bio and take my 7-day SOCIAL MEDIA FOR SMALL BUSINESS CHALLENGE. We talk ALL about each of these strategies and SO MUCH MORE!
